The current manual does not cover the R8-S rx, there is no firmware on the manufacturers web site. Do not try and update this rx as you will wipe the firmware and brick it.

I would like to note, The antennas that come with these have a long cable now, Not like the ones in the picture. You may be able to contact them before ordering to request the shorter ones. I had no problems with the firmware but I did find out that if you use the one listed on the receivers webpage, It is older than what comes with it. You have to use the firmware that is listed for the receiver on the combo units page.

Well made. Tested to a range of 5KM on low power.

DON'T even try to update firmware unless you have access to WIN XP. Simply connecting the TX or RX (with USB) to the computer will wipe out the onboard firmware - instantly without asking. You CANNOT restore the firmware unless you are running WIN XP (I tried VISTA / WIN 7 / 8 iOS). Aforesaid confirmed by manufacturer.
