I think it is a burden to us that worrying about parcel safety when order internationally, especially for dealer customers due to the high value and tight profit margins, yet there are many restrictions on buying insurance from the shippers, for example, China Post can only accept insurance for parcels to 3-5 countries worldwide, because only the 3-5 countries signed contacts with China Post for insurance policies, also there is a conflicts between declared and insured value for some customers in the past, but now we have resolved this problem by a self-insurance plan innovated by HiModel.
When you choose to insure your parcel, for orders not eligible to be insured by the shippers or the shipper without insurance service, we will put the insurance fee you paid into a separate account managed by HiModel, and in case of parcel lost or damaged, we will make a full compensation including shipping costs or the actual lose in case of parcel damage, the compensation will be funded from the insurance fee paid by all HiModel customers, in case the fund is not enough, then we will make up the shortage at our cost. It means the risks of parcel lost or damage are shared among all HiModel customers.
By this way, as soon as the shipper confirm the parcel lost or damage, or the delivery time exceeds reasonable time frame which can assume the parcel lost, then we can immediately move to process compensation by resend or refund.
According to our experience, we can assume the parcel is lost after the days listed below: China Post (small) air parcel: 60 days China Post EMS: 40 days DHL/FedEx/TNT Express: 20 days TNT economic: 30 days
