The type 052B (Guangzhou class) is the multi role missile destroyer built by Jiangnan shipyard, Shanghai for the PLA Navy. A total of two ships 168 Guangzhou and 169 Wuhan have been built between 2000 and 2003. The type 052B adop0ts a Chinese designed hull, but fitted with a large amount of Russian weapon systems and sensors. The building of the two type 052B destroyers and the following two type 052C destroyers in such a short time frame reflects the PLA Navy's need to moderize its obsolete surface fleet.
